Meet Us

Our vision is for creating the University of Waterloo Teaching

Stream Faculty Association (WatTSFA)

Lecturers Connect began as a website by a few members who wanted to have a place for discussing lecturer-related news, articles and concerns and for supporting one another. We have become a grassroots movement to unionize lecturers at the University of Waterloo. Turning words into action. We have representation from every faculty.  Please join us !

Only Continuing Lecturers are shown below from each faculty, but many Definite-Term Lecturers are also involved with this initiative!  Please contact us about joining the list below.

Originally a community for Lecturers to discuss shared issues, Lecturers Connect has evolved into a grassroots movement to unionize Lecturers at the University of Waterloo. We believe that Lecturers should have the ability to organize and represent their own interests, and that union certification is the best way to achieve that goal.

First and foremost, we're not union leaders -- we are organizers. Card-signing is the first step towards our ability to meet as Lecturers, and democratically vote on important issues: if we should unionize or not, what our relationship with FAUW should be, who are leaders will be. Our goal is to empower Lecturers to democratically vote on these important issues and make shared, collective decisions.

Our membership consists of Lecturers in a wide variety of situations - some more precarious than others. To protect our colleagues from explicit/implicit intimidation, we will not publish a complete list of Lecturers Connect organizers. See our General FAQ.

The following Lecturers Connect lecturers are openly supportive of this movement, and you are encouraged to ask them any questions. Union leadership will be democratically elected by you, our members, based on the processes set up in the WatTSFA constitution, which will be discussed, debated, and ratified during our first General Meeting.
