We’ve heard a lot of questions about what options we have as Lecturers to effect positive change in our working conditions such as having policies changed, addressing our workload issues, and more.
At Lecturers Connect, we believe the way forward is for Lecturers to form an independent association.
We would have the ability to negotiate our own working negotiations in a certified environment, i.e., Lecturers would always have a seat at the bargaining table and have the power to advocate for our own working conditions.
You probably have a lot of questions; our FAQ on Certification is here for you!
The FAUW Board also supports these efforts as evidenced by a motion, which was approved unanimously by the FAUW Board on April 20th, 2023:
To allow Lecturers to obtain CAUT and OCUFA resources and support about certification and will not actively oppose the establishment of an independent Lecturers’ association if that is the democratic will of its Lecturer members.
We look forward to working with FAUW in a collaborative manner to ensure that Lecturer voices are heard when negotiating our terms and conditions of employment.
